ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
DESCRIPTION
An increasingly rare chance to own an authentic famous and infamous British 1796 pattern light cavalry trooper's sword of the Napoleonic wars; the French hated the fact the British had the most effective slashing sword on the battlefield. These sabres are becoming harder and harder to source, and more and more expensive to buy. This particular example has an exceptionally good blade, though with nicks to the forward cutting edge comensurate with front line field use. This sabre was made by Woolley, as shown on the spine; a famous maker in Birmingham, England. It has a crown (over 1) inspection mark, so it was almost certainly sold to HM Army, not to a reservist "Yeomanry" unit originally. The blade is firm in the hilt which, along with the scabbard, has rusted and been painted black. The grip is a replacement but is period as you can see from the worm holes! It is very likely therefore this sabre was well used (the grip worn) as it was passed from likely a front line regiment down to a yeomanry cavalry unit. There apepars to be some markings on the scabbard under the paint; it may have the regiment, troop and trooper markings there but no gauarantees and I do not want to remove the paint from one section. 1.755 Kg so with packaging over 2Kg.
Please contact me for extra / full sized photos if required. Item ref number 96 (Packet 5 >2Kg)

I only use the local post office to send items; if you want a courier such as UPS, Fedex or DHL, YOU will have to organize and pay for it (I am happy to accommodate their collection). I am quoting using the cheapest option which is registered and provides some tracking. Estimated delivery times are Europe (3 to 4 days), USA / Canada / Australasia (2 weeks). The price does not include specialist packing / boxes; if you want specialist packing this will cost extra and may well increase the postage cost. The shipping cost does NOT include insurance; if you want this PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING; all risk is with the buyer (please note: I have never had a problem with damaged / lost parcels yet, except to Russia). There are faster delivery options available including an express service; please let me know if you want details of such options.
I sometimes use little white styrofoam chips and other props to balance items so I can photograph them; so if you see a little white thing or something else, that is what it is. I often use composite photos (photos which show the same item several times from different sides / angles); so if you see one photo which appears to suggest it is for more than one item, it is not (unless stated otherwise).
PayPal Buyers: You are the importer and assume all risk a) regarding Customs (after the item has cleared my local Customs and left the country) and b) for package / content loss or damage (unless insurance is paid for). You give up your right to make a PayPal buyer guarantee claim a) for non-delivery (unless you specify and pay extra for advised delivery, where your signature is provided back / available online to me as proof of delivery, plus specify and pay for insurance) and / or b) where the item is seized / delayed / confiscated at your Customs control.
Items are sold as is; assume nothing. Please ask for photos / condition statements as required.
