WHY & HOW YOU SHOULD SELL ON VBID ME:
vBid.me is after quality militaria, antiques, sporting goods, branded goods sellers from the EU (yes, that includes the UK) , USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and European Economic Area countries (sellers in other countries require a special invitation).

What vBid.me offers sellers.

  1. No fees - Free to register, free to list and no commissions. There are some charges for optional premium listing items (extra photos, highlighted listings, etc.). Yes, this can change in the future BUT sellers who join and regularly use vBid.me now will get a one year extension to the free period if / when anything becomes chargeable.
  2. Free stores - Build a store, have a unique URL to send your buyers to.
  3. Buy Now, Make An Offer & Auction Options - You choose what format to sell by and with complete flexibility, e.g. choose a standard 7 or 10 day auction with or without both a reserve and a Buy Now option, if the item does not sell relist it for free as a Buy Now (with or without Make the Seller an Offer option).
  4. 90 Day Listings, one click relists - You can list an item for 30 days with 2 (free) automatic relistings (we do this to remind you by email every 30 days of your items on vbid.me in case you sell an item elsewhere). If it still does not sell, you can quickly and easily manually relist it free for another 90 days, and another, and another.....
  5. Beat the distance selling laws - Most countries now have so called "distance selling" Internet shopping laws where a fraudulent buyer can return an item within a certain period (in the EU this is 7 days from the date they received it) for a full refund, including shipping costs both ways, even if they have used / abused the item. Selling items by auction on vbid.me, with or without a reserve, should make you exempt in law; does not apply to Buy Nows.
  6. Link to your own web site! Use the vBid.me Offer option when you list an item and you link to your own sales site! You can even vary the link text and URL for maximum search engine benefit.
  7. Power Sellers / Site Sponsors - If you support vBid.me, we will support you! We will always negotiate with good sellers. If you have a web site and link to vBid.me, we can offer special terms, perhaps even a main page / site wide Sponsored Banner link.

Some benefits over eBay.

  1. PayPal Surcharge OK - Sellers can charge a surcharge if buyers use PayPal (any surcharge must be stated on the item listing); sellers can not do this on eBay.
  2. Less PayPal Risk - On eBay buyers have more opportunity for making a claim (Buyer Protection Guarantee), even fraudulent claim against the seller (dishonest buyers are being reported for having received PayPal refunds for non-delivery and then called the carriers to have the packages delivered)! For example, "Significantly not as described" is not covered by PayPal on auction items bought on vBid.me. We actually combat seller fraud differently, by publishing "Ask the Seller a Question" messages automatically, so users can publicly say if they think an item is not accurately described.
  3. The Buyer is the Importer on vBid.me - On eBay the seller is the exporter. It makes a difference legally and regard to items not received / held in Customs / refused by the Buyer (vis-à-vis Buyer remorse).
  4. vBid.me hates Reproductions - vBid.me will not tolerate reproductions being sold as authentic period items, at all, ever. So genuine sellers are not having their prices afflicted by cheats.

Top vbid.me seller tips / info.

  1. Seller Preferences - Click My Account and go to "Preferences" under "Listings". Here you can enter / amend your default auction listing preferences so you do not have to type them in each time.
  2. vBid.me Deal - This is an excellent way to promote your own web site on your vBid.me auctions! Simply offer users a small discount for listing any item on your own site for them on vBid.me and drive buyers to your own sales site!
  3. Blocking Certain Buyers - Click My Account and go to "Blocked Buyers" and "Block by Feedback". Here you can block buyers by username, too little feedback and / or too much negative feedback. Yes, there is an exceptions list as well, so if you want to allow a certain buyer (who would otherwise be blocked) to bid, you can.
  4. eBay Feedback - If you have feedback on eBay let us know and we will import it onto vbid.me!
  5. Stores - Open a store and get a unique URL to send potential buyers to.
  6. Buyer and Seller feedback - Yes, we provide / allow both buyer and seller negative, neutral and positive feedback on vBid.me PLUS we will remove any unfair feedback, guaranteed.
  7. Quick, easy relisting - See a list of your unsuccessful items, select "tick all" (or tick the ones you want) and click "relist"; that is it ! If you want to make some changes such as convert an auction to a Buy Now, we make that easy too!

There are several visual effects and listing options available. These are optional and may require a fee.

  1. HomePage Featured - These listings will be randomly selected to be displayed on our main page.
  2. Category Featured - The listing will be featured above other items in category listings.
  3. Gallery Listing - The listing will be featured in the gallery section.
  4. Highlight Listing - The listing with have a highlighted background to attract attention.
  5. Bold Listing - The listing title will be displayed with a bold font.
  6. Hit counter - A free service to help track how many views your listing has received.
  7. Auto Relist - Automatically relist an unsold item (a multiple item listing that has had at least one sale will not be auto relisted).
To list items for sale or trade, you must first enter the item information.

The following fields are required:

  • Category - This is the category and/or sub-category where your listing will be located. Please note: Wanted and Classified ads can only physically be placed in the Wanted / Classified category.
  • Title - The title of your listing.
  • Quantity - The quantity of goods to be sold or traded.
  • Item Location - The location the items will be shipped from.
  • Detailed Description - Any information about the item(s) for sale or trade.
  • Selling Method - Traditional Auction, Multi Auction, Fixed Price Listing, Classified Ad, Trade Listing
  • Number of Days to Run - The listing duration. If this option is not present, the Seller must enter the Start and/or End dates for the listing. (See below)
  • Starting Price - The lowest acceptable price for your listing (unless you specify a Reserve), or the cost of goods for a Fixed Price listing.

Depending on the site configuration, the following fields may also be required:

  • Preferred Currency - For international sales, the price of your item will be displayed in this currency.
  • Payment Required Up-Front - Payment in full is required before your item will be listed, this includes the accrued balance of final value fees, auto-relist fees, and the current item posting fee.
  • End Date - This option becomes available if the Seller is allowed to specify the exact start and end date of the listing.

The following fields are optional:

  • Hit Counter Style
  • Home Page Featured
  • Category Featured
  • Gallery Listing
  • Highlight Listing
  • Bold Listing
  • PayPal Email - Supply your PayPal email address and a link will be created for the winning bidder(s) to make a payment.
  • Shipping Cost - The additional charge for shipping and handling the item(s).
  • Who Will Pay Shipping? - Indicate if the Buyer or Seller will pay for the cost of shipping the item(s).
  • Auto Relist - Allows you the option of having your items automatically relist if they go unsold (a multiple item listing that has had at least one sale will not be auto relisted).
  • Upload Base Image - This is the main image for your listing. This image is used if the "Gallery Listing" feature is selected.

The following fields are also available:

  • Start Date - The Seller is allowed to specify the exact start date of the listing.
  • End Date - The Seller is allowed to specify the exact end date of the listing.
  • Free Extra Images - Additional images that can be added to the listing without charge.
  • Premium Extra Images - Additional images that can be added or a fee.

The following options are only available for Traditional Auctions:

  • Buy It Now
  • Reserve Price

Some item categories may require additional information. For example, a category for books may require the seller to include the ISBN or edition.


Adding Images - You can add images when you list an item. You can also edit a listing to include additional images.

Images must be in .jpg or .gif format.

  • .jpg - File format that reduces file size without reducing image quality.
  • .gif - Common file format used specifically for web graphics.

To upload an image (from the 'Sell an Item' form):

  1. Click "Browse"
  2. Locate the image file on your computer
  3. Select the file name
  4. Click "Open"

To change an image (from the 'Sell an Item' form):

  1. Check the box marked "Delete"
  2. Click "Browse"
  3. Locate the image file on your computer
  4. Select the file name
  5. Click "Open"
The images that you choose for your listing can be interchanged. If you do not like the original image order, you can rearrange them by changing their sequence number.
 

 
Edit a Listing - Complete listing information can be edited IF:
  • Auction and Dutch Auction - The item has received 0 (zero) bids
  • Fixed Price Listing - 0 (zero) items have been sold
  • The listing is a Classified Ad

If a listing has received bids or one of multiple items have sold, the following changes can be made:

  • The Seller can append a note to the item description
  • Listing Options can be added

To Edit a listing:

  1. Login to your account
  2. Access your My Account/My Auctions menu
  3. Select the "Selling" tab
  4. Select [edit item]
  5. Make changes to available fields
  6. Click the button "Save Changes"



Cancel a Listing - There are two ways to cancel an active listing. You can:

  • End the listing early OR
  • Delete the listing

To End a listing early (immediately):

  1. login to your account
  2. Access your My Account/My Auctions menu
  3. Select the "Selling" tab
  4. Select [edit item]
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Item page
  6. Type the word "End" into the appropriate text field
  7. Click the button "End Early"

To Delete a listing (immediately):

  1. login to your account
  2. Access your My Account/My Auctions menu
  3. Select the "Selling" tab
  4. Select [edit item]
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Item page
  6. Type the word "Delete" into the appropriate text field
  7. Click the button "Delete Item"
